Root Cause Analysis
Root cause analysis is like being a detective for finding out why things go wrong in making a product. It’s a step-by-step way of figuring out what’s causing problems in the product, either before or after it’s released.

When done right, it helps find the main reasons for the mistakes that keep happening. Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) is about fixing these problems. It’s important to fix things early in the process to save time and money by stopping the problems from happening in the first place.

Reduces recurring defects
We note down the problems and scrutinise them using a method called root cause analysis. But before doing this analysis, a special graph called a Pareto graph is made. This graph helps show which type of problem happens the most. It points out the category with the most problems, and that is the one we focus on first.

Importance of RCA

  • Root cause analysis (RCA) is great because it helps teams find and fix the main problems in how they make things. This means there’s less extra work and fewer mistakes in the final product.
  • Cost Savings: Fixing mistakes costs more as we go along, and if problems end up in the final product, customers might not buy it again, causing a loss of money.
  • Finding the Real Issue: RCA is helpful when teams feel like they are doing things right, but still, have the same problems. It helps answer what is really broken and why, going beyond just the obvious reasons.
  • Safety and Reliability: For industries where safety and reliability are crucial, RCA is a big help. It reduces future mistakes, making products more trustworthy.
  • Faster Releases: By figuring out the main cause of a problem and fixing it, products can be tested and released faster, reaching the market sooner with fewer mistakes.

Using Root Cause Analysis to stop mistakes has big advantages. It makes making things faster and cheaper, makes customers happier, and lessens the need to fix things later, saving money and making the product better.
