Championing Sustainable Comfort:
Our Go 25 Pledge
HY is proud to be part of the Go 25 national movement, a forward-looking initiative by the Singapore Green Building Council (SGBC) and the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment (MSE), supported by the National Environment Agency (NEA) and the Building and Construction Authority (BCA). This campaign encourages setting indoor temperatures to 25°C, the scientifically proven balance for optimal human comfort and environmental sustainability. The movement was announced by Senior Minister of State for Sustainability and the Environment Dr Amy Khor at the launch of Go Green SG 2025.
As a leader in the built environment, HY is committed to advancing the Go 25 vision and driving meaningful progress toward a smarter, greener Singapore. Our commitment is grounded in data that clearly demonstrates benefits for the planet, our business, and our people. With buildings accounting for about one-third of Singapore’s carbon emissions, this adjustment represents a meaningful step toward lasting environmental impact. Raising indoor temperatures from 22°C to 25°C can reduce carbon emissions by up to 30%, directly supporting Singapore’s climate goals while lowering energy consumption and operational costs. Research also shows that people perform cognitive tasks around 10% faster at 25°C compared to 21°C, demonstrating that sustainability and productivity thrive together.
To achieve this transition, HY took a measured and people-focused approach designed around comfort, adaptability, and engagement. The air-conditioning setpoint was raised incrementally by 0.5°C each week, allowing teams to adapt seamlessly. A business casual dress code was introduced to complement the new thermal environment, while continuous feedback through employee surveys and live sensor data helps maintain an ideal balance between comfort and efficiency.
Our Go 25 pledge represents more than an operational change; it reflects our shared responsibility and belief that sustainability begins with thoughtful action. By empowering our people and creating environments that support wellbeing and performance, HY continues to shape workplaces that embody innovation, resilience, and purpose, inspiring our collective journey toward a more sustainable future.
