Enabling the Energy Transformation
The world must speed up its efforts to cut down on pollution and harm to the environment.
We need to shift to a new way of getting energy, using different renewable sources both locally and offshore. This change won’t just impact the power grid but will also affect many parts of our society and economy.
The Electrification of Mobility and Logistics is one major movement gathering momentum – The Electrification of Mobility most immediately comes in the form of the adoption of Electric Vehicles, while the Electrification of Logistics come in the form of Maritime – Multi Energy transformation and the Electrification of Logistics Prime Movers. All these transformations will require upgrades of national infrastructures to support the new Energy Regime. At HY, we are actively engaged in Engineering Mobility Electrification.
Energy Communities, that exploit the benefits of MicroGrids , Energy Storage Systems, and Virtual Power Plants (VPP) could be part of the solution to facilitate this transition. The concept of building Energy Communities has garnered interest in many parts of the world because of the economic and technical benefits. This concept has also evolved into many forms. One new concept is the development of Positive Energy Districts (PED), which exploits the benefits of VPP and Demand Side Management (DSM) to optimise the power balance in a district.
Over the years, the HY team has embarked on a few pilot projects to allow us to explore the benefits, and understand the existing challenges of building such energy communities.
We are keen to work with partners to join us in this learning journey. Contact Er, See Fong (seefong@hy-me.com.sg, 92738900) to discuss more.
